Powered Grease Gun

Powered Grease Gun

Greasing pivot points, spindles, and other constant wear areas on the farm, ranch or homestead is a constant battle. Grease reservoirs seem to have a nearly unlimited capacity. With conventional hand pumped grease guns, the resulting effort can lead to a bad case of tennis elbow. Air powered grease guns have been around for some time but require a compressor, which is not always convenient. Fortunately the battery-powered generation of tools has come a long way. Lithium-ion powered tools like this Milwaukee grease gun bring powered greasing capabilities to wherever the jobsite is.

General Lubricant

Fluid Film

Not all wear points have grease zerks and finding a lubricant that doesn’t dissipate over time can be a challenge. Fluid Film is a soft active woolwax coating that penetrates and forms a protective barrier against corrosion. It’s non-toxic, non-hazzardous and will not freeze. We find it perfect for lubricating chains and sprockets, pumps, and even battery terminals. Purchase Fluid Film in bulk for under the tree or in handy spray cans small enough to fit in that stocking hung with care.

Hitch Pins

Hitch Pin

These sometimes pesky little critters have a penchant for getting lost, mislaid or somehow disappearing at the most inopportune of times. Your local tractor supply may even have a bulk assortment. All sizes are perfect stocking stuffers, but our favorite and most used style is the sprung trailer safety lynch clip in 8mm x 47mm (diameter) size.

Magnetic Retriever

Magnetic Retriever

Nuts and bolts seem to have a propensity for slipping from what you thought was a safe location and ending up in the most difficult of places to reach. Far too often it seems as if the harder-to-get the hardware item is, the more slippery it tends to be. If you’ve heard some expletives emanating from the barn or garage, a good guess it that a simple nut or bolt has fallen and ended up in a place fingertips cannot reach. The solution though is simple: a magnetic retriever.

Pat’s Easy Change System

Pa'ts Easy Change System

Three-point hitches (3PH) are notorious for the effort required to affix the implement to the link arms. Lower that attachment to a nice resting place and for some reason, when you go to hook up again, something has moved (or the geometry of how you backed the tractor in is just slightly different). Because the design of a traditional 3PH requires slipping the lower lift arm eyelet over the implement hitch pin, a system that instead lifts up and catches that sweet spot can do away with much of that effort. And while there are many systems available, Pat’s Easy Change System does not require special bushings or specific pin spacing.

Flashlight

MAG-TAC Crowned Flashlight

It goes without saying, tractors and their associated implements have plenty of places where natural light doesn’t easily reach. A flashlight can help mitigate those conditions. But there are flashlights and there are flashlights. A favorite of ours is the 320 lumen LED crowned bezel MAG-TAC flashlight with enough output to illuminate objects two football fields away. Small enough to fit in your pocket, but with plenty of power, it just might be the perfect stocking stuffer.

Coveralls

Carhartt Quilt-Lined Duck Coveralls

Working men and woman need working clothes. Carhartt has been supplying quality garments since 1889 when Hamilton Carhartt began to provide coveralls to the railroads. Carhartt 100% ring-spun cotton duck coveralls continue that tradition with quilted lining, plenty of pockets, an optional hood and ankle to waist zippers. Whenever Carhartt gear is worn, you’ll be reminded of the founders words: “I believe that when a man wears an article that I manufacture, his self-respect is increased because he knows that it is made by an honest manufacturer, who is honest with his employees.”

Fuel Transfer Pump

Fuel Transfer Pump

With fuel tanks in many cases exceeding 100 gallons, filling up can be a challenge – especially in the field. Hand pumps are common but are real energy sappers. A 12V electric pump from Roughneck is the perfect solution. Weighing just 19 lbs and with 8.0 gpm flow capability, the Roughneck makes refueling quick work. Options include metered pumping and a retractable hose reel.

Offset Wrenches

Offset Wrenches

Turning wrenches at Tractor.com, as at your farm, ranch or homestead, isn’t uncommon. But too often nuts and bolts are positioned in those “What engineer would ever put that there?” locations. Offset wrenches help get the job done. Time and again we fall back on our 60-degree offset set. One word of caution – in the tool market you get what you pay for. Don’t skimp and you’ll end up with tools that will last a lifetime.

Snap Ring Pliers

Snap Ring Pliers

Snap rings, retaining rings and circlips are all methods of holding an assembly onto a shaft and are used in many mechanical components, including those found on tractors. Snap ring pliers expand the fastener for easy installation or removal. If you don’t have snap ring pliers in your toolbox, suddenly that easy installation or removal isn’t so easy. Fortunately this stocking stuffer is inexpensive.
