AGCO FARMS

As the fall harvest wraps up, many farmers are turning their attention to next spring, making decisions on fertilizer, crop rotations and seed purchases. AGCO wants to remind farmers not to overlook necessary maintenance on their tractors before winter sets in.

To help farmers remember how to winterize their equipment, AGCO is introducing FARMS. FARMS consists of five steps farmers should take to protect their equipment investment and prepare for next spring.

Massey Ferguson Woods Partnership

Massey Ferguson, a tractor brand of AGCO, and Woods, an implement and attachment brand of the Farm, Ranch, and Agriculture Division of Blount International, have joined together to provide consumers compatible and color-matched implements and tractors.

“Through this agreement, customers have access to more than 70 Woods implements paired with Massey Ferguson tractors,” says Jerry Johnson, president of Blount International’s Farm, Ranch and Agriculture Division. “We’re proud to provide Massey Ferguson dealers a broader product offering and to have sales of these implements supported by AGCO Finance programs.”

Gleaner Combine GleanerCare

Gleaner has introduced the GleanerCare uptime assurance program for all Gleaner S8 Super Series combines.

“GleanerCare is an optional program that provides maximum uptime assurance during harvest to farmers who purchase a Gleaner S8 Super Series combine from a GleanerCare dealer,” AGCO says in a release.

Challenger MT800E Series

With an eye on helping farmers tackle tough conditions, Challenger has launched its MT800E Series track tractors. Available in four models ranging from 450 to 590 engine HP, these machines feature new AGCO POWER 168, 16.8L diesel engines.

“The new AGCO POWER 168 diesel engine sets the MT800E Series tractors apart from the competition,” says Conor Bergin, product marketing manager, High Horsepower Tractors. “Unlike competitive models that modify over-the-road engines for agricultural equipment, these engines are custom-built to handle the most rigorous field applications.”

Challenger MTD400 Series

Challenger plans to introduce and display its new MT400D Series mid-range tractors at the 2013 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Ill., Aug. 27-29.

“These new MT400D Series tractors are built with the professional farmer in mind,” says David Bercik, product marketing manager. “These handy, productive tractors round out any fleet and are perfect for the daily chores of a busy farming operation.”

The MT400D Series includes five models – MT455D, MT465D, MT475D, MT485D and MT495D – ranging from 90 to 125 PTO horsepower. The 4.9-liter AGCO Power engine that powers each model features wet, replaceable cylinder liners and mid supports. The four-cylinder powerplant benefits from an intercooled turbocharger, four valves per cylinder, high-pressure common-rail fuel injection and electronic engine management. Each MT400D also meets Tier 4-interim emissions standards for North America.

AGCO takes an active role in helping youth by funding scholarships, as well as showing young people the opportunities available in agriculture beyond farming.

In addition to providing nearly 130 individual scholarships worth more than $120,000, AGCO and its Challenger, Massey Ferguson, and Gleaner dealers across the country work directly with youth and many local National FFA Organization chapters.

“Agribusiness locally and nationally needs to be better understood by all and viewed by young people as a viable and exciting career choice,” says John Bookmiller, president of Java Farm Supply in North Java, New York. “We work with our local chapters to provide equipment, classroom materials and tours of our entire operation from parts and sales to technology, so young people here can see that agribusiness offers many career choices and many opportunities beyond operating a farm.”

AGCO Groundbreaking Ceremony

AGCO says it will invest $42 million over the next three years in infrastructure, increasing production capacity and efficiency as it expands its production facility in Jackson, Minn.

Eric Fisher, AGCO director of operations in Jackson, was joined by city of Jackson Mayor Wayne Walter in a groundbreaking ceremony at the site May 7, 2013, to mark the start of the facility improvement project.

The three-year endeavor is made up of seven phases affecting all areas of the campus, including component manufacturing, the tractor assembly line and the application equipment assembly line. Once completed, the expansion will create 75 additional permanent jobs at the facility, bringing the total number of employees to more than 1,200. The project will increase production capacity by 25 percent for both the tractor and sprayer assembly lines.

Auto Guide 3000AGCO had professional farmers in mind with its new Auto-Guide 3000 – an integrated assisted-steering solution that, according to AGCO, offers best-in-market functionality.

“Assisted steering has become a very important option on the machinery owned and operated by professional farmers,” says Martin Richenhagen, chairman, president and CEO of AGCO. “Professional farmers and agriculture enterprises can increase their efficiency and realize rapid return on their investment by adding integrated, precision technology solutions from our factories.”

According to an AGCO release, the Auto-Guide 3000 is a complete satellite-assisted steering technology. To meet what AGCO calls a growing customer demand for guidance systems, the Auto-Guide 3000 has been designed to be simple to operate and fully scalable from sub-meter to sub-inch accuracy.

AGCOMMAND AppAGCO has made available its latest global mobile application built to serve agriculture professionals on-the-go. According to AGCO, the app allows farmers to manage their operation from anywhere, anytime.

“AGCO’s industry-leading telemetry service, AGCOMMAND, has gone mobile. Building on the capabilities of our existing AGCOMMAND wireless information solution, it’s exciting to deliver an app designed for the increasing demands of professional farmers and the dealer network that supports them,” says Martin Richenhagen, chairman, president and CEO of AGCO. “Professional farmers and agriculture enterprises can increase their productivity through this new, wireless agriculture management tool that focuses on fleet management, vehicle health and overall machine uptime.”
