Mahindra USA, Inc. has announced the winners of its 2011-12 scholarship program benefiting young women studying agriculture, the Mahindra Tractors “Women in Ag” Scholarships.

“From almost 8,000 applicants, these four outstanding women were selected to receive merit-based college scholarships from Mahindra USA for use during the 2012 school year,” Mahindra USA says in a release.”

  • Laura Erbe from Altoona, Kan. will be a freshman at Kansas State University majoring in Animal Science.
  • Nicole Hood from Middletown, Md. is a freshman at Delaware Valley College majoring in Agricultural Business Management.
  • Brooke Nation from Alva, Okla. will be a freshman at Oklahoma State University majoring in Agricultural Education.
  • Rebecca Lazenby from Midway, Texas will be a freshman at Texas A&M University – College Station majoring in Agricultural Extension.
  • Houston-based Mahindra USA has introduced the all-new 6010 HST Cab and 6110 Shuttle Cab to its 10-series of tractors. The 10 series tractors are a value line of compact economy machines designed for a multitude of uses. The new 10 series models are both four-wheel drive and became available at Mahindra dealerships nationwide on October 31.

    “The new 6010 and 6110 tractors continue Mahindra’s tradition of providing our customers with the superior performance, power and value that they require and expect from the world’s #1 selling tractor,” says Cleo Franklin, vice president – marketing and strategic planning for Mahindra USA. “These new tractors are economical, easy to operate, and ideal for general purpose farming, agriculture/livestock operations, and grounds maintenance.”

    Mahindra and Mahindra is setting up a $67 million tractor plant in Zaheerabad in Andhra Pradesh (India) with the capacity to produce 100,000 tractors

    The plant will commence production in 2012 with tractor assembly, gearbox assembly, hydraulic assembly and sheet metal painting.

    “With its advanced technology processes, large scale manufacturing set up and eco-friendly focus, the plant is all set to create new benchmarks in manufacturing excellence in the tractor industry,” says Pawan Goenka, president, automotive and farm equipment sectors at Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.
